Group costume ideas for Halloween

As a resident Isla Vistan, I've had more Halloween crammed down my throat in the past three years than most do in a lifetime, so listen up.

First and foremost, be original. If you want to draw stares of adoration at your next Halloween or costume party, your outfits can't be last Halloween's leftovers. That is unless your a hot girl with a tight shirt and a short skirt. In that case, lets be honest you could be wearing a Wal-Mart Batman costume in a boy's small and you'd be fine. Back to the point, costumes must be your own idea - have fun with it. Most cities offer secondhand or vintage stores which can be a great starting point for any costume. (If you're reading this and are in or planning to attend an event in the greater Santa Barbara area, I highly recommend Victorian Vogue & Costume Shoppe on State Street (link included below). If your two goals are originality and affordability (which they most likely are) any secondhand shop is a good place to start. Another potential treasure trove of novelty costumes may be your parent's closet. Lets face it anything that was popular in the 1970s is sure to be a hit next Halloween.
